CMIS traces its roots to 1954, when returning missionaries started the Chiang Mai Children's Centre, and it describes itself as the first international school registered outside Bangkok. It took its current name in 1985 and sits in Wat Ket, near the Ping River, one of the few international schools inside the city.
It follows an American curriculum with a wide choice of Advanced Placement courses, including AP Capstone. The school is affiliated with the Church of Christ in Thailand and is open to students of all faiths, from around 20 to 30 countries. It is WASC accredited.
CMIS suits families who want an American high school diploma and a central location. Ask about its enrolment fee and continuing enrolment deposit when you apply.
